Refreshing Agua Fresca Recipes

Summer is here and now is the perfect chance to cool off and enjoy the season with your family and friends. Surprise your family with delicious agua frescas that will definitely quench their thirst this summer. Here are four refreshing agua fresca recipes that are easy to make and that everyone in the family will enjoy.
Horchata Agua Fresca Recipe
Agua de Horchata
Ingredient List
- 1 cup Rice
- 4 cups Water divided
- 3 Cinnamon Sticks
- 1 1/2 cups Sugar
- 12 oz. Evaporated Milk
- 1 tablespoon Vanilla
Directions:
- Bring water to a boil. Once boiling, add cinnamon sticks and boil for 5 minutes. Then add rice and leave boiling for 20-25 minutes.
- Let rice and cinnamon mixture cool down.
- Remove the cinnamon sticks and liquefy rice and one cup of water and blend until completely ground.
- Once the rice is blended, add evaporated milk, sugar, vanilla and the rest of the water into the blender.
- Place in refrigerator to chill until ready to serve over ice. Garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon and a small stick of cinnamon.
- ~Enjoy!
Note: Add ground cinnamon for a stronger cinnamon flavor. If you like a thinner consistency, add more water until you reach desired consistency.

Melon (Cantaloupe) Agua Fresca Recipe
Agua de Melon
Ingredient List
- 2 small Melons or 1 large Melon
- 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1 cup Sugar
- 6 oz. Evaporated Milk
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 4 cups Water
Directions:
- Cut melon in half. Remove the seeds inside completely and cut into small squares.
- Place the first 5 ingredients in blender until completely blended.
- Add water to blender and blend.
- Place in the refrigerator to cool until ready to serve. Best served with ice.
- ~Enjoy!
Note: Choose a ripe melon for a stronger melon flavor. For less pulp, pour melon water over a strainer into another container or pitcher to remove the excess pulp.

Cucumber Agua Fresca Recipe
Agua de Pepino
Ingredient List
- 2 Cucumbers
- juice of 1 large Lime
- juice of 1 large Lemon
- 1 cup Sugar
- 6 cups Water
Directions:
- Peel 2 cucumbers and cut into slices.
- Blend all ingredients in blender until no big pieces of cucumber are left.
- Pour out cucumber water in pitcher and strain excess pulp.
- Add more water to complete a total of 3 qts. You can use more or less sugar according to taste.
- Place in the refrigerator to chill until ready to serve.
- Serve over ice and garnish with a slice cucumber.

Note: As an option you can add a peeled and seedless green apple.

Watermelon Agua Fresca Recipe
Agua de Sandia
Ingredient List
- 6 cups chopped Watermelon squares
- 1/4 cup Lime juice
- 1 cup Sugar
- 6 cups Water
- 2 Basil leaves (optional)
Directions:
- Put all ingredients in the blender, except basil.
- Once fully blended, add water to complete 3 qts.
- Empty watermelon water into pitcher.
- Add 2 basil leaves to steep for infusion.
- Place in the refrigerator to chill until ready to serve.
- Serve over ice and garnish with a sprig of mint.
- ~Enjoy!
Note: The amount of sugar and lemon is adjusted according to your preference and/or sweetness of watermelon.
